The Uptones formed in Berkeley, California in 1981. They were heavily influenced by the English 2 Tone sound, as well as punk rock and the British mod scene. The band continued into the'80s touring and opening for many major bands. They were an influence on Green Day, Sublime and Rancid who covered "Get Out Of My Way" on their first album. The band reunited in 2002 releasing 2 new albums.
